Anaheim is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. I decided to give Georgia's in the Anaheim Packing District a try because I'm a big fan of their Irvine Spectrum location. I figured it would be the same great food in a different setting, but unfortunately, my experience was pretty disappointing. First, I want to say that the person who took my order was very nice and friendly. Customer service at the counter was pleasant, and I appreciated that. As for the Anaheim Packing District itself, it's definitely a vibe. The atmosphere is lively, there's live music, and it's a fun place to walk around and explore. That said, it is very loud. The live music adds to the energy, but if you're looking for a quieter meal or conversation, be prepared for a lot of noise. Now, onto the food. The biggest disappointment was the baked beans. They didn't just have a hint of chili flavor, they tasted like an actual bowl of chili. I'm talking to the point where I felt like I should've been eating them with crackers, shredded cheese, and sour cream instead of alongside barbecue. I've had Georgia's baked beans before at the Irvine location, and this was nothing like what I expected. I also requested my catfish to be fried soft, but it still came out

We enjoyed dining out of the patio. Unfortunately, what we ordered was not as good as the ambiance. The fried chicken was not good. We are from the southeast, so we didn’t expect a super thick batter on top of soggy skin. In the south, the skin is what makes it crispy. It was almost like baked chicken with fried breading on top. The flavor was also off. Outside of our main dish, the black eyed peas and yams were delicious. The Mac and Cheese is not baked but has a soupy consistency. The pound cake was delicious but the cashier was putting her hair in a pony tail holder at the counter and then proceeded to continue rolling silverware. Don’t be surprised to see a hair from anything you get from that counter. I was actually a little nervous after she handed me my slice of cake. Everyone is really nice though, but I would definitely try another entree if I ever return again.

Fried chicken was flavorless the chicken itself no flavor. Corn bread was delicious. Yams were okay but very bland. The Gumbo was extraordinary good! Strawberry lemonade super yummy too. My husband had to get up to get refill for my lemonade. We were not given spoons for the yams or the Gumbo very disappointing my husband had to get up again and go get the spoons. Po’bo shrimp sandwich was okay the shrimp was very bland as well. I noticed other people putting salt to their food too because it was lacking salt. Bake beans were almost like spicy Mexican beans instead of soul food!! The greens were good but too spicy too! I am a soul food lover but the quality was below my expectations.

We stopped in for a late lunch on a Saturday. It’s a casual setup—you order at the counter and then find your own table. It was busy, but we were still able to grab a table without much trouble. After we sat down, they brought over utensils along with a complimentary corn muffin for each of us and a small container of butter. Nice touch—and very good. We ordered Gretchen’s Jambalaya ($22.95), a flavorful mix of shrimp, andouille sausage, and chicken over rice. Definitely the standout dish. The Louisiana Shrimp Étouffée ($25.95), however, was underwhelming—a fairly bland shrimp stew with rice that lacked depth and character. Service was efficient and timing was good overall. As for the Anaheim Packing House itself: a decade ago this was a fresh, chef-driven destination with real character; today it feels more like a crowded, noisy shopping mall food court. The originality has faded, the teen-heavy crowds and parking hassle detract from the experience, and with so many better, easier dining options across Orange County, it’s no longer worth a dedicated trip—fine for visitors, but a shadow of what it once was.

Sooo delicious and everything was freshly made. The customer service was spectacular too! I witnessed them help celebrate a birthday for a family and they were so generous. Also their pies are so yummy! 10/10, highly recommend to visit them.
